Photography has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. When people ask me what I do for a living, I tell them I own King Street Photo Weddings and Charleston Corporate Photographers. I feel very blessed to be an image maker, and my fantastic team and I capture joyful, emotional moments at weddings and corporate events.
Albert Einstein once said, "The only source of knowledge is experience." My love for photography started when I was 16 and worked for a photographic retail store called Kihei Camera in Hawaii. I learned about photography equipment, developing film and paper, customer-client relations, services, and sales for almost three years. My boss always said I worked hard with passion, vision, intention, and artistry. I loved every moment of it, and I enjoyed meeting and serving clients.
After finishing high school, I moved to Beverly Hills, California, where my uncle taught me a valuable lesson about the photography industry. He said that not all photographers were the same, and only the most talented and experienced ones were successful. I quickly learned the craft of capturing cinematic and film photography, understanding studio and ambient lighting and using proper strobes for location photography to create special effects and well-lit images. I continued learning by assisting well-known fashion and celebrity photographers and attending workshops and trade shows.
In 1985, I brought my photography skills to South Carolina, first in Myrtle Beach and then Charleston. I have called Charleston my home for the last 35 years and developed my passion for photography by opening King Street Photo, a small retail photography shop on King Street. Shortly after, I expanded and created King Street Photo Weddings, capturing over 500 weddings. At the same time, I captured over 125 corporate events for many Fortune 500 companies, which led to the expansion of my corporate photography and videography services for private sectors.
